Hot or Not?

BASEBALL =’s Hot
Tuesday's game lasted 10 innings, but the Bulldogs (8-3) defeated Stephen F. Austin by a score of 8-6 at Jaycees Field in Nacogdoches, Texas. The last time the Bulldogs won a game in extra innings was on March 29, 2008 against San Jose State. The game lasted 14innings, but the Bulldogs prevailed 12-11.

GOLF =’s Not
Louisiana Tech Golf Team shot a total score of 894 over three rounds Sunday and Monday at the 24th Annual Louisiana Classics played at the Oakbourne Country Club and hosted by UL-Lafayette to place 11th overall out of 15 teams. The team played Peter Cox like rounds hitting numerous balls out of bounds, hitting slices that take a 90 degree right turn and a handful of dickouts.

SOFTBALL =’s Not
Louisiana-Lafayette scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to blow open a tight game and defeat Louisiana Tech 8-0 in the first game of a softball doubleheader Tuesday.

Louisiana Tech had a golden opportunity to knock off 14th ranked UL-Lafayette Tuesday in the second game of a doubleheader but the Lady Techsters fell 3-2 in nine innings. LA Tech took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Amberly “Big Bats” Waits off of Ragin Cajun starter Ashley Brignac. The home run came after Danielle Sheridan reached on a two-out error by UL-Lafayette. Tech had a chance to extend the lead in the top of the seventh inning by loading the bases, but in Joe Pavelko fashion Kylie Bassett struck out, threw her helmet and bat into the dugout while calling the umpire a “BUM!” to end the threat.

Eastern Michigan =’s bad at baseball

How fitting of a match up over the weekend between my two teams I had to choose from for my lifetime team. As I have said before E. Michigan is just plan terrible and that is why I did not chose them and it really showed over the weekend in the baseball match up.

Dylan Moseley pitched nine Charlie Ruud like innings without giving up a single run in Louisiana Tech's 10-0 victory over Eastern Michigan on Sunday at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

Tech's (7-3) three-game sweep over the Eagles (3-9) is their second sweep of the season. The Bulldogs swept Grambling State with their awesome band in attendance exactly two weeks ago.

In Moseley's nine innings on Sunday, he threw only 96 pitches and allowed six hits and only one walk, while striking out two in his second win on the year.

Louisiana Tech defeated Eastern Michigan by a score of 5-4 Saturday.

John Anderson pitched five solid innings and the Bulldog hitters smashed 14 hits to propel Louisiana Tech to a 10-7 victory over Eastern Michigan Friday night.

IdaHO Vandals Vandalize Bulldog finale

A ferocious second half by the Idaho Vandals snapped the Bulldogs four-game winning streak Thursday night in the Cowan Spectrum by a final score of 66-58 and closed out the Bulldogs regular season. Junior Kyle Gibson scored 25 points to lead all scorers for the night. Louisiana Tech will await the remaining WAC games to see who and when they will play next. The Bulldogs finished out their regular season with a 14-17 record and 6-10 WAC.

Amberly Waits – Sends Southeastern Louisiana back to the Southeast

Amberly Waits and her big bat hit a two-run home run and Meghan "The Rocket" Krieg pitched her fifth shutout of the season as Louisiana Tech downed Southeastern Louisiana 2-0 at North Oak Park Wednesday afternoon in the first game of a softball doubleheader.

Second game was more of the same as Amberly Waits grand slam home run highlighted an eight-run second inning as Louisiana Tech defeated Southeastern Louisiana 10-1 Wednesday afternoon in the second game of a softball doubleheader at North Oak Park.

Tech returns to action Friday with a 3 p.m. contest against Stephen F. Austin at the Texas A&M Invitational.

Two Mascots?

To set the record straight, I pledged my allegiance to Louisiana Tech as a whole. Turns out that my 2nd favorite school goes by two mascots, one for the men's athletics and one for the female athletics. The men use the testosterone filled "BULLDOG" and the female teams go by "Lady Techsters". I will keep my site labeled with the Bulldogs, but I will continue to report on all actives at the school and if anyone wants to sue me for this I will refer you to my lawyer Russell J. Putnam.

How I became a Louisiana Tech Fan (For Life)

Yesterday was our college team draft for life at one of our favorite watering holes, Hooligans. It’s a great place for 2 for 1’s after 9pm and you always can get some great fish tacos or flapjacks with a side of curry. This all started with a story from our favorite pull tab pulling buddy. After hearing the story of how they were fed up with their local sports team, they decided to choose new teams to cheer for FOR LIFE. Although most of us are still die hard fans of our local teams, we thought it would be a great idea to draw another team to cheer for the rest of our lives. So the draft began last night with 14 of our buddies and we each drew two teams out of a hat. My first team that I drew was Eastern Michigan and my heart sank. Eastern Michigan was the third worst team that I didn’t want. West Virginia and Virginia Tech were my number ones that if I got, it was possible that I might cry. Eastern Michigan I thought to myself, they have terrible teams, terrible coaches, terrible fans and a terrible mascot. I had to wait until the second round of the draft to see how my other team would be. As I reached my hand in to the “The U” hat that we were drawing out of I thought, please give me a team that I want to cheer for and BAM Louisiana Tech it was. My decision was made almost instantly. Do I want a team like E. Michigan with terrible teams, coaches, fans and mascot or a team like Louisiana Tech with great teams, coaches, fans and mascot. I was so excited and thought of all the great athletes that have played there from Karl “the mailman” Malone to Terry Bradshaw to Teresa Weatherspoon. And this is how I became a fan of Louisiana Tech for life and how I have a new hated team in E. Michigan. Below is how the draft went for our group and the teams we drew and had to choose from. Picks are in bold.

DB – Washington or Syracuse
Rosie - Toledo or Boise State
Rob - Wake Forest or Bowling Green
Manuel – Ohio or Idaho
Russell - Texas Tech or Florida
Swenson – Mississippi or Alabama
Neal – UTEP or Maryland
Joe - San Jose St. or Akron
Hanson - Texas A&M or UCLA
Steve – TCU or Troy
Sprout - Miami (Fla) or Central Florida
Bendy – USC or Louisiana-Monroe
Hotlanta Cox - C. Michigam or UNLV
